3 Year Old Kindy Program
The Woodlupine Family Centre established a 3yo Kindy Program in July 2000 offering one two hour session designed to give children who turned four in July onwards of that year an opportunity to participate in a Kindy style program in readiness for 4 Year Old Kindy the following year.
We offer sessions of three hours, from 9.30am to 12.30pm or an extended session from 9.30am to 2.00pm, allowing 3 year old children to come to Kindy once or twice a week.
We will provide a play based educational environment where children can organize, learn, and make sense of their social world as they interact with the world around them.
To achieve this we will:
- Value children’s individual learning outcomes
- Embrace their passions
- Support creative expression
- Encourage independence
- Develop confident self-identities and sense of belonging
- Respect and embrace families and diversity in culture
Our program is based on the
“Learning Through Play” philosophy.
1. Through play the children will be encouraged
to explore, experiment, discover, create, question and discuss and therefore
build on their own knowledge and experiences
reflect upon our practices so we can learn and seek new understandings of our
existing culture and continue to grow to become better Educators.
believe that as Educators we should hold high expectations for children's
learning so children can progress to their own learning outcomes.
4. Placing children in a safe social
environment allows them to move from the known to the unknown with less
5. Allowing children to mix and socialize with
children of their own age aids their social development.
recognise that children learn in a variety of ways, through active
involvement, observation and
nurture children’s natural curiosity by providing opportunities for them to
experiment, to discover and solve problems, to find out about themselves, other
people and the world around them.
8. We nurture a child’s sense of wonder and sense
of fun. Play is essential to young children’s learning. Give children
time to grow, to reflect and to experience success so that they are able to
face future challenges, build on their strengths and accept their individual
limitations without fear of failure and loss of self-esteem.
9. We integrate the Framework "Belonging,
Being & Becoming" and practice on a continuing basis.
- Holistic approach
- Responsiveness to children
- Learning Through Play
